Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN MATRAS July 23, 1942 - March 20, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loved father and grandfather, Allan Matras. On March 20, 2013 with his children at his side, Allan took his final breath and left this earth. Allan left a legacy of love and compassion that is carried on by his daughter Mira, her husband Steve and their children Sully and Vayda Rossnagel and his son Ethan, his wife Melissa and their children Benjamin and Aliya Matras. Along with his children and grand-children Allan will be missed by his beloved dogs Amy and Pal and fondly remembered by friends and family that love and value the debate and dialogue, the fishing trips, the drives out to the cabin, the family dinners and every other wonderful memory left with us. Allan was easy to relate to and compassionate by nature, he was easy to love and always held an unwavering love of animals and an appreciation for the great outdoors. As a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Allan would always let us know when the game was on and he would radiate with joy as he shows you his new piece of memorabilia. Allan has impacted many people and left his mark on the world by committing his life, love and intellect to helping people as a social worker in Manitoba and throughout Northern Canada. Allan will be missed as a father, grandfather, partner and friend. We miss you Allan and we celebrate all the wonderful memories and lessons you left with us. Dad, you are greatly missed and always loved. Funeral service was held on March 22, 2013.

Al Matras was a great friend to my dad, Norm Adelman. Al started to work for my dad at Children's Outing Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and continued there for a number of years before he moved to Canada. Norm and Al remained friends for years, and my dad visited him in Canada several times. When my dad was ill with Parkinsons, Al stayed in touch by phone and letter and was so supportive. I am sorry to learn of Al's passing. He was an important person to my entire family when I was growing up. - Posted by: Deborah Adelman (Friend from Milwaukee) on: Nov 21, 2016

I was so saddened to hear of Al's passing. I was an active BBYO'er when he was the Executive Director. The impact that he had on me as an adolescent on the brink of adulthood was huge. I appreciated his guidance, respect, and how he challenged me as a person. For this I will always be grateful. May his memory be a blessing. - Posted by: Colleen Cohen (Friend) on: May 21, 2013
